“World’s 10 most dangerous airlines”
Yes, there had to be such a list. And I still remember the movie ‘Rain Man’ when Dustin Hoffman tells Tom Cruise that Qantas never crushed (see the video).
Full article here
“The results do not take into account the cause of the hull losses, or whether the airline is at fault, so they are not a perfect measure of how safely an airline behaves.
…
#10 SkyWest Airlines: 3 hull losses; 22 dead
#9 South African Airways: 1 hull loss; 159 dead
#8 Thai Airways International: 5 hull losses; 309 dead
#7 Turkish Airlines: 6 hull losses, 188 dead
#6 Saudia: 4 hull losses; 310 dead
#5 Korean Air: 9 hull losses; 687 dead
#4 GOL Transportes Aéreos: 1 hull loss; 154 dead
#3 Air India: 3 hull losses; 329 dead
#2 TAM Airlines: 6 hull losses; 336 dead
#1 China Airlines: 8 hull losses; 755 dead”
Charlie (Tom Cruise): Ray, all airlines have crashed at one time or another, that doesn’t mean that they are not safe.
Raymond (Dustin Hoffman): Qantas. Qantas never crashed.
Charlie: Qantas?
Raymond: Never crashed.
Charlie: Oh that’s gonna do me a lot of good because Qantas doesn’t fly to Los Angeles out of Cincinnati, you have to get to Melbourne! Melbourne, Australia in order to get the plane that flies to Los Angeles!
Wikipedia says: “The scene in which Raymond reels off a list of statistics of fatal airline crashes was cut by most airlines when showing the film in-flight – except for Qantas, which even promoted one of the movie’s writers to first class when he traveled on their airline.”
This list is totally flawed. Get Gol from Brazil. The only accident they had that indeed killed 154 people was caused by a bizarre event where a private jet collided in midair with their Boeing which suffered major structural damage losing nearly half of its left wing and the plane. The pilots from teh private jet are being sued for causing the accident. How can you say it one of the most dangerous airlines in the world? They only fly brand new planes and had zero incidents after that one.
You are missing AA and UA which have lost several planes ( including 2 on 9/11 each and 1 in Nov 2001 -AA ).
Don’t forget about Tenerife, with a single accident you would have:
KLM 248 dead
PanAM 335 dead
Please remove this list, as it’s completely bogus and spreads misinformation for people who google for worst crashes lists!
