Power suddenly off, computer system messed up
Air Canada, Edmonton
Everyone had boarded and the plane seemed to start taxing away any time soon but all of the sudden the lights went off. There was total darkness for a few seconds, the emergency lights went on and for a while it was eerily quiet.
The pilot announced someone tripped over the power cable, now I am not so sure he said so as I asked a technician who came on board what happened and he said someone had pulled the power cable before he was instructed by the cabin to do so. Then the pilot said this messed up the computer system and it will have to be rebooted. ‘No big deal’ I thought ’5-10 min. max.’
However, an IT guy had to board the plane, I don’t know what he did but I was very curious as I saw him kneeled down in the cabin all the time. The whole affair took like 30 min. and I did not mind the delay too much – even if I missed the connection and I arrived at home very late – but it started to get very cold and I was still recovering from a cold. It didn’t help unfortunately, next day I was sick again.
