Test drive a BMW and get $50 voucher for Air Canada’s eBoutique

The image is an advertisement featuring a partnership between Air Canada and BMW Canada. The top left corner has the Air Canada logo, and the top right corner has the BMW Canada logo. Below the logos, there is a large image of a BMW car with the text "GET ONBOARD SOMETHING NEW." The text below the image addresses the recipient as a loyal customer of Air Canada and offers an opportunity to test drive a BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, X3, or X5 at an authorized BMW retailer. It mentions that participants will receive a $50 voucher for Air Canada's new enRoute. The offer is valid until July 31, 2012.

I have to say the offer that landed in my inbox was tempting; test drive a BMW and be paid (sort of) for it. And the dealer would treat me very deferentially, after all Air Canada would not send the offer to anyone.

However, I know I will not buy a BMW so I will have to pass. I do not want to help financing 6 week vacation plus numerous statutory holidays, generous social benefits, free universal health care (and a good one) and free higher education :). I want to buy a car made in North America, preferably from the Big Three. They (the companies and workers) need everyone’s support, support to be shown by buying an American car.

Did you know that Big Three’s brands lost market share in nine of the ten U.S. states that have the highest auto sales between 2008-2011? The big winners were German brands such as Volkswagen and BMW as the European brands (mainly German cars) picked up market share in seven of the ten largest U.S. markets.

  1. Yawn…why buy crap just because it is made in N America? Maybe a Ford as they were able to muddle through without Obama subsidies, but GM and Chrysler – really? Pigs at the trough if you ask em…
