Played Star Alliance Game, retail value of 1st prize $375,000 β closes June 14
First time I got all questions so I was presented with this map of an airport:
The ToC says: ” and then try to guess the location of a virtual Star Alliance branded plane hidden on a map by dropping a pin.”
What does it actually mean? Do you have to drop the pin on a plane or the plane is hidden as per ToC and you cannot see it at all so it is completely wrong to drop it on a plane that it can be seen, it has to be beside it. It isn’t clear for me at all but I would go for the hidden definition rather than choosing an existing plane (even if searching on Internet many people dropped the pin on a plane). By the way I should have done this research before playing – no contest should be taken lightly, especially with what it is at stake π – and had a more scientific approach. For example I found: “It is easy to see its ORD and that Terminal 1 is the Star Alliance terminal”. No way, I would have known this.
Second time (you get a 2nd chance by inviting a friend) I did not get any answers right (again I should have been prepared) and had this map:No way to guess the location of the plane.
Most of the answers can be easily figured out, but for others you would need to look up (preferably beforehand as they don’t change the questions too much and you are timed as well).
Examples of questions and answers:
Star Alliance Gold members enjoy priority boarding on every departure when travelling across the network. But how many Star Alliance departures are there each day?
20,500 X
19,600
22,700
Frequent travellers can earn priority status across all our member airlines. But how many frequent flyer cards would you need to have to do so?
3
1 X
2
As a frequent flyer on the Star Alliance network you can earn and spend your miles or points across how many airlines?
More than half of them
Less than half of them
All of them X
I had the same type problems and barely understood the contest!
Terrible, but some folks will do anything for a shot at the (retail value) $375k first prize. I pitt the poor sucker who wins as this is considered taxable income. After bankrupting him/herself to pay the taxes, who would want to travel that much, unless it was t o escape the tax collector. [OK, SNARK MODE=OFF]. An amusing contest, I guess, but get a life.
@cook
In Canada lottery winnings are not taxed and I suppose this contest has the same treatment.
