Museum of Flight, Seattle

I have to visit any aviation museum that is easily accessible from a city I am in, and when I visited Seattle some time ago I had to go to the ‘Museum of Flight’.

What a pity Concorde does not fly any more. Did you know that here have been more U.S. astronauts than Concorde pilots ?!The image shows a British Airways Concorde aircraft on display. The plane is elevated on a platform with stairs leading up to it. There are trees in the background and some fencing and traffic cones in the foreground. The date on the image indicates it was taken on June 30, 2008.The image shows a British Airways Concorde aircraft on display outdoors. The image shows a large aircraft on display outdoors. The aircraft has a blue and white color scheme and is labeled "United States" on the side. There is a set of stairs leading up to an open door near the front of the plane, allowing visitors to enter. The area around the aircraft is cordoned off with metal barriers, and a few people can be seen nearby. The sky is partly cloudy, and the date "30/06/2008" is visible in the bottom right corner of the image. The image shows the interior of a private jet or a luxurious aircraft cabin. The cabin features a seating area with cushioned seats and a curved sofa. There is a table with a transparent cover, possibly for displaying items. The walls and some furniture are covered in wood paneling, and there are windows along the sides of the cabin. The date "30/06/2008" is visible in the bottom right corner of the image.

Boeing AWACS for Royal Saudi Air Force
The sale of surveillance planes to Saudi Arabia by the Reagan administration (some 25 years ago) was a controversial part (it was objected by Israel) of what was then the largest foreign arms sale in US history. The image shows a large military aircraft with a distinctive radar dome on top, parked at an airport. The aircraft has markings indicating it belongs to the Royal Saudi Air Force. In the foreground, there is a parking lot with several cars and a motorcycle. The background features a hilly, forested area. The date stamp on the image reads "20/05/2008."

Grunman Intruder
The image shows a front view of a military jet aircraft displayed outdoors. The aircraft is positioned on a grassy area and is surrounded by a low metal fence. The background features a modern building with large glass windows and a visible structure of metal beams. There are also several flags visible through the windows of the building. The aircraft has multiple missiles or bombs attached under its wings. A sign with information about the aircraft is placed near the fence on the right side of the image.

Sorry, but I cannot help it, from the ‘Top Gun’ movie:

  1. Great Air Museum and a must-visit if you are in Seattle, IMO. I’ve also been to the Pacific Aviation Museum in Pearl Harbor. Pretty good too!

  2. I was there this weekend. Kind of a bummer the 747 wasn’t open for viewing. Otherwise fantastic museum
