Protein/Energy Bars

Yesterday I wrote about superfoods today is the day of the protein/energy bars.

In my quest for maintaining a stable energy level while away from home and on work – because on vacation I don’t need to eat this ‘stuff’ đŸ™‚ – and helped by the per diem policy that required receipts for reimbursement (i.e. I could not save money out of the per diem so I might as well ate the best) I embarked on a journey of finding the best energy bars and I am not talking here about Mars or Snickers.

Some of these bars had a story behind them and at some point I was interested in the story itself than the ingredients :). I think I read about a single mom who started making the products in her kitchen, about a nurse, and of course athletes.

I had big hopes in the Vega bars (plant based product) that had an interesting story but I didn’t like them/make any difference even if I did not give up and I tried them more than the other bars. I even felt they had an artificial taste more than the other bars (don’t know why as from what I have read they are the most natural, so to speak).

And the winner is ‘Wild Bar’, the most expensive bar I have ever bought around $7. It might be the price that made my opinion biased, or the fact that contains an ingredient that can be found only in one place on the Earth (in the Universe I would add) so eating this bar made me feel special :).

On the entire planet Earth, there is one nutrient-dense superfood so rare and so wild that it can only be harvested from renowned Klamath Lake for a few short weeks each year: Ancient Sun’s Wild Blue-Green Algae.Previously available only in our premium supplements, WILDBAR is rich in phenylethylamine (PEA – 30mg/bar), which many scientists believe can dramatically improve concentration, increase mental energy and enhance mood. Then, we created the ultimate nutritional synergy by including raw cacao, the true source of chocolate’s great health benefits. Finally, we added some of the most delicious foods, herbs and spices ever wildcrafted by man. The result is the WILDBAR. It’s the ultimate superfood, all in a bar so good, so healthy and so delicious that your customers will think it’s manna from heaven.

Again, I could not carry my test for a longer period of time as the store where I used spend my per diem on ‘healthy’ food stopped carrying them (I think I bought the last 2 bars when I heard they were no longer going to bring them).

Some of the bars I have eaten, I have tested many more and even took a photo of each but I could find only some pictures:The image shows two packaged food bars. The top bar is labeled "Organic Food Bar" with "Active Greens" and "Produits Verts Actifs" written on the packaging, which is green and yellow with images of various vegetables. The bottom bar is labeled "Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bar" with "Cashew & Agave Nectar" and "with Sprouted Flax Seeds" written on the packaging, which is yellow and black. Both bars are certified organic, as indicated by the USDA Organic seal on the bottom bar.

The image shows a packaged energy bar labeled "Whole Food Energy Bar" with a natural flavor. The packaging is green and features the word "vegan" along with a logo. The brand name "sequel" is also visible. The bar weighs 63 grams or 2.2 ounces. There is a small image of a person exercising on the right side of the packaging.

The image shows a packaged food item labeled "Spirulina Bar" from Lydia's Organics. The packaging is predominantly green and yellow with a sunflower design on the left side. The text on the package indicates that the bar is gluten-free, raw, organic, and vegan. The slogan "Eat Better, Feel Better" is also visible on the packaging. The package is placed on a wooden surface. The image shows a package of a Clif Bar. The packaging is primarily beige with a blue background in the center. The Clif Bar logo is prominently displayed on the left side in red and white. The flavor of the bar is "Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch," which is written at the bottom in white text on a purple background. The package also mentions that it is "Made with Organic Oats & Soybeans" in a purple banner at the top. There is an illustration of a person rock climbing in the center of the package, with mountains in the background. The net weight of the bar is 2.4 oz (68g).

The image shows a green and yellow wrapper of a product called "WildBar." The flavor indicated on the wrapper is "Mountain Mint." The wrapper also mentions that the bar contains "Raw Cacao & Wild Blue Green Algae" and is labeled as "Organic," "Raw," "Kosher," "Gluten Free," and "Vegan." There is an image of mint leaves on the right side of the wrapper.

The image shows the back of a green packaged food product, specifically a chocolate bar. The packaging includes a description of the product, nutritional information, and a barcode. The text describes the product as a nutrient-rich superfood with ingredients like macadamia nuts, wild peppermint, and raw cacao. The nutritional information includes details on calories, fat, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugars, protein, vitamins, and minerals. There are also various certifications and labels indicating the product is organic, gluten-free, and low glycemic.

I will get $50 also, sorry about that.

I thought that after being purchased by Scotiabank they will no longer have this double bonus promotion
(usually it is $25), but they do have it at least for this year.

I used to have a post with this ‘announcement’ but now I have decided to spam my own posts. I know it is pathetic but I am allowed to :).

  2. I’m a marathon runner and there are some good protein bars but the one I think is the best is the Pure Protein line which have the most protein and lowest grams of sugar. They are also available at many places. Unfortunately I’ve had a hard time buying them on line for miles for a better overall price than just picking them up at Target, Walmart, etc. Oh and I don’t advise the strawberry. They also have a premium line that I forget the name of but also are Pure Protein brand. They are even better tasting.
