Where in the world is it safe to travel?

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation put together a map, based on warnings from Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs.

Click on the map to see it full size.This image is a world map with countries color-coded based on travel advisories. The legend indicates the following color codes:

- Red: Avoid all travel
- Orange: Avoid non-essential travel
- Yellow: Avoid some areas
- Blue: Exercise high degree of caution
- Green: Take normal security precautions

The map shows various countries in different colors according to the travel advisory level. For example, countries like Canada, the United States, and Australia are in green, indicating normal security precautions. Countries like Russia and China are in yellow, indicating to avoid some areas. Countries like Iran and Syria are in red, indicating to avoid all travel. The map is sourced from the Department of Foreign Affairs. Some regions like Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Curaçao, and Micronesia are not represented on the map but are noted to have normal precautions.

  1. It really depends on the location within the country. Northern Iraq: very safe. Southern Iraq: not so much. Same with Afghanistan. And inter-city Chicago/Detroit/Philadelphia? That’s not green…

  2. This is a lot of adventure to be had in the green areas and just keep flying on the ultra safe side……I’m very content with that……….orange and yellow flyers don’t come crying as the State Dept will do what they can but it is just not safe to travel in that neighborhood……….you’re been warned……

  4. Really? Japan is yellow? From what? The radiation or the best customer service? Lol, apparently Japan is on the same level as Mexico. All their credibility just went out the window.

  5. Yea, seriously Canada…Japan? One trip thru customs @ YVR caused me more stress than the 4 years of living in Japan did combined!
