8 U.S. Islands that are Warm Now
I didn’t know there are places like that in the US. They seem very interesting the type of places I would like to visit, especially Caladesi Island, Florida.
The three miles of white-sand beaches on this pristine barrier island offer some of the best shelling on the Gulf of Mexico. And because it’s a state park, you won’t search for sand dollars in the shadow of high-rise hotels. In fact, there’s not a single place to stay on the island, unless you count the 108-slip marina. There are no cars, either.

The snow is piling up and all you want to do is escape to a warm island? You don’t need to splurge on a trip to the Caribbean to spend time on the beach this winter. [my bold] These eight U.S. islands have the sandy shores, seafood shacks, and sunny skies that will have you thinking it’s summer—even when there’s snow on the ground back home.
and the authors definition of warm is 70s????
My favorite place in Florida is Venice. Beautiful beaches and can walk any where on the island. The island in Venice is a ww2 era army Corp base. Not any name brand hotels on the island. But nice condos you can rent for three months at a time. Near caladesy island is a beach that you better be careful where you walk because there are great big rattle snakes.
@Nic: mine too! Was at Sanibel over Xmas – quite comfortable in shorts, t-shirt & sandals in the 60s & 70s, while FL family was wearing long-sleeves & jackets. Spent most of December in the single digits (both sides of zero)…
