  1. Somebody needs to go to church more often . . . 🙂
I believe this practice became more popular during WWII.

  2. I live in Minneapolis and the reason for the “no guns” signs is because you can conceal and carry here. It is VERY common to see this type of sign. The mall of america has them, Metrodome…pretty much every public place does. Not to be a troll, but I don’t get this blog post.

  3. Said the church usher to The Skepical Traveler at the Christmas Eve service……”Oh, I am sorry sir, the house is packed. But if you have your iPhone and can link to StubHub there are four alter side that you can grab for either 25,000 miles a piece or $995.” “And sir we are happy to see you as the Rector just commented last week that the only way he thought you would come thru that door was in a pine box so we are all glad to see that you are doing so well.”

  4. The Catholic church I go to has an American flag a bit off to the side of the altar with a Vatican flag slightly lower. And as far as I know, guns are permitted.

  5. Every church in the US that I’ve been in for forty five years has had a couple flags in them. Normally a US flag, state flag and the flag of the denomination of church. I’m not a Christmas and Easter church goer. I attend church every week except those two. Although the Easter service is my favorite of the year.

  6. Most US Christian churches have a US Flag and a Christian flag. Sometimes they will also have a state flag or others however many churches are heading down the road of contemporary worship style and for some reason think that shouldn’t include a flag in the worship center or chapel area, odd.
Most churches in the US discourage concealed firearms and in some states it is illegal to carry a concealed firearm into a house of worship even if the person is has a concealed firearm license. Law enforcement and security teams in churches typically will have concealed firearms on hand however. The real problem is if an active shooter enters the church and 5 people stand up and pull out firearms know one is sure who the active shooter is anymore including law enforcement that rush to the scene.

This church you feature is either trying to be simply funny in posting the rules or they are liberal in their political leanings and want to show that. Being in Minneapolis it’s a close call on that part.

  7. They are not common for me, first time I have seen so many of them. However, I have traveled mostly to California.
